My Story:
As a teenager, I was offered the opportunity to work in a small women's clothing store in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. Starting out as a fitting room clerk, it was there that my interest in merchandising began. After learning the ins and outs of running a store, I quickly was promoted to Store Manager and discovered my career goal, A Retail Clothing Buyer.
In May of 1986, I graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and immediately went to work as an Assistant Buyer at Clover, Division of Strawbridge and Clothier Department Stores. Five years later, I achieved my dream and become the Junior Top Buyer. The excitement of traveling to New York and California Fashion Markets, seeking the next trend, developing private-label programs, and working with the different departments of the company, was a dream come true. I excelled and became Buyer of the Year, 2 years running. It was my passion for the business and my success as a buyer, that led to the company offering me their first Planning position. Having achieved my buying dream, I chose to accept the Planning offer and was excited about the opportunity. Learning new software programs, training buyers, creating spreadsheets, and working with the entire Ready to Wear division, was a new and exciting journey, one that I was fortunate to take.
The next few years I worked in various companies, some start up divisions, and other established corporations. My experience covers industries including: Athletic Footwear, Men's Apparel, Women's and Kid's Apparel, Accessories, Travel, Food, and Construction. In many of my positions, I have been responsible for both Planning and Purchasing. I have partnered with many buying teams and have accomplished many outstanding results utilizing my strong analytical skills. Whether it was achieving highest margins in the department's history, or decreasing $20 million inventory levels, the challenge and excitement never changes. Number crunching and finding opportunities to drive margins and cut expenses is what I enjoy most.
As an employee, I am committed to the team environment, have an entrepreneurial spirit, am multi-task oriented, and computer savvy.
All industries would benefit from my sharp analysis and passion for success. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and discuss how I can analyze your business, discover opportunities, and achieve your company goals!
